Even on such a grey, drizzly morning and set among dark green foliage, I find the blue of my blue ginger startling. It might be a dash of purple that gives it zing. The glossy, spiralling leaves on tall, banded stems provide interest beyond the flowering season, producing much the same landscape texture effects (mentioned yesterday) as a ginger. It's not a ginger but related to Tradescantia with which it shares a readiness to propagate from cuttings.
