more bulbs | really early paperwhites

Other no-fuss bulbs that flower and clump out well even in not so cool climates are common jonquils like the bright yellow Soleil d'Or and this Paperwhite (Narcissus papyraceus). But unlike the nerine, these ARE meant to be harbingers of spring: brightening up the depths of winter before the real spring riot hits. I haven't kept records but it's long seemed to me that these appear earlier each year. This year, here's one in April.
